BiZZdesign Architect Release 2.0
BiZZdesign Architect® is a tool environment with supporting methods, consultancy and training. Architect aims at capturing architectures and provides functions to visualize and analyse the coherence between different architectural domains. Release 2.0 offers new functions, such as:

  • Definition of viewpoints. When generating a view, you can indicate which types of objects and relations should appear in the view. These settings can also be saved, allowing you to reuse this viewpoint definition later on.
  • Navigation. In Enterprise Architecture, navigation through your model is important. Architect 2.0 now has a new navigation window that allows you to browse through your model in a logical way, from each object, via its relations, to other objects.
  • Derived relations. In order to get a detailed insight into relations across multiple types of objects, Architect 2.0 supports derived relations, presented in tabular form. For example, you can open a table showing which business processes are supported by which infrastructure services.
  • Analysis and queries. Architect 2.0 contains an advanced query mechanism, with a simple query language. It allows you to define queries such as: which processes are supported by two or more applications? Which applications support which business goals? Which business services with a high service-level are realised by infrastructure services with an availability less than 98%?
  • Import and export. Architect 2.0 can import data from Microsoft Visio and from XMI sources, possibly in combination with XSLT transformations.
  • Architect is now available in two editions, Basic and Professional. The Professional edition extends Architect Basic with query definition and execution, and viewpoint definition. Architect Basic contains the same features that were present in Architect 1.4.

In addition, various bugs have been fixed, and several speed improvements have been applied, for example in the cross-reference tables. A description of functionality you may find here. BiZZdesign Architect is partly based on results from the ArchiMate project. Architect is ArchiMate® compliant, approved by Telematica Instituut.
